Aurora Thunderjet 500 1960's slot car set, Plus
SOLD $710.00 Sold: Dec 12, 2023 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
eBay I am selling my huge 1960’s Aurora Model Motoring Thunderjet 500 slot car track and cars. Started out as a simple figure 8 for my birthday about 52 years ago and over the years and on into into high school it grew into a huge track and 34 original Thunderjet cars plus some from Auto World and Tyco. The track grew off the top of a dining room table down the wall to a 180 degree banked turn, a scale mile long back straight then back up onto the table covering maybe 50 square feet. It was so large I had to use a transformer on each lane or the cars slowed on that back straight. We used that back straight for the A/FX long dragsters that couldn’t do corners. Most of my cars are typical and an inventory them follows, the very special ones are being sold separately, I hope you will take a look at them, too. I am 67 now and ran these with my two sons then a little bit with my grandchildren. The cars still run, I have polished the pickups and armature plates on most of them and cleaned the brushes in the pancake motors. Why? I guess I still care about them and take a little pride in them as I did 52 years ago. I’d like somebody to take over for me and keep them going and enjoy them as I did. I have nobody to race with anymore.Various bits of the track have been cleaned over the years to make up small setups at Christmas and whatever but most of it could use the Pink Pearl Eraser cleanup or whatever the current slot car people do to clean tracks and the track rails. Most all of it is in good shape and I have a lot of the “special” tracks, even the side service road exit-with it’s instructions!. I even have the HO scale railroad crossing to combine both hobbies into one layout. Please take a look at the pictures and my inventory. I am happy to answer questions or send more pictures. There are 26 original TJet cars included, two Auto World (pancake motors like TJets), one built TJet chassis, three A/FX bodies, four complete A/FX cars, one Tyco 1906 Corvette, and two A/FX incomplete cars.TRACK INVENTORY:There is enough track here for many different layouts.
